Brand/Category Manager – Projects
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies Required:
- Relevant B Degree / B Tech advantageous
- 5 - 7 Years sales experience in the general electrical field dealing particularly with; Project Houses, Architects, Specifiers, Developers as well as previous experience in tendering and estimating
- Proven marketing and sales competencies and ability to analyse markets and set strategies.
- Ability to establish new markets by tapping into your existing network.
- Ability to manage budgets as well as meeting set KPI’s
Typical Job Functions include, but are not limited to:
- Analysing the category and current strategy and highlighting areas of weaknesses or conflicting messages to both the National Sales Manager as well as the Managing Director as and when required.
- Creating a sustainable “category plan” which encompasses a category strategy and ensuring all aspects of the product or company's marketing and activities align with the ethos and goals of the category prescribed by both the external category supplier as well as ACDC Dynamics.
- Sourcing suppliers and products that fit with the context of the category.
- Creating an enduring category message that results in increased sales, brand loyalty and improving market share.
- Championing the category internally, making sure all elements of the company understand the category and its goals.
- Realistic forecasting of sales and volume for the category ensuring all departments of the company are geared accordingly by means of timorous notification.
- Working closely with all parts of the company to ensure commercial goals of the category are met.
- Developing and sustaining strong working relationships with all stakeholders.
- Presenting the category plan to the National Sales Manager, Managing Director, Category Principle as well as Sales and Marketing teams at internal meetings and conferences.
- Partnering with internal ACDC structures like the marketing department thus ensuring budgets are met.
- Seek out new marketing opportunities that fit with the category and maximising all opportunities for growth.
- If applicable, reporting monthly sales results to the sales team.
- Supporting the sales force with general operations to help reach the team’s objectives.
- Dealing with and responding to high volumes of emails.
- Taking phone calls from customers.
- Feeding back all suggestions for improvement and market research to senior staff.
- Managing several assigned accounts and often being the face of the company to many clients.
- Achieving high sales targets and goals.
- Building new business relationships using existing industry contacts.
- Sales presentations to high-level executives.
- Understanding the marketplace and customer needs in order to offer advice in product development.
- Working closely with the Sales and Marketing departments to develop the sales and marketing strategy.
- Managing all aspects of the category through the supply chain both tangible and intangible.
- Playing a key part in buying, sourcing and manufacturing of category products and ensuring all aspects of the supply chain align with such.
- Developing high quality and effective marketing materials that align correctly with the overall strategy of the category.
- Specification of specific products within the category ranges by means of leveraging relationships with architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, developers, specifiers, electrical consultants as well as contractors.
- Geographical management of prescribed area of responsibility
- Meet and exceed monthly as well as quarterly sales targets
- Providing your client with customer focussed insights regarding the product and category.
- If applicable, oversight of the respective category team members as well as other support staff.
- Becoming a leader in category ranging, pricing and promotions across customer channels.
- Managing a large portfolio of products within your prescribed category as well as developing appropriate strategies for such.
- Assisting in category presentations or exhibitions as and when required.
