Maintenance Technician - Germiston

Maintenance Technician - Germiston
Purpose :
Undertake the responsibility to preserve the good condition and functionality of our premises. Will have to perform routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on buildings, mechanical equipment and utility systems
Typical Job Functions include, but are not limited to:
- Inspect company equipment for possible problems and report findings
- Perform minor building, plumbing, electrical and painting repairs if necessary
- Implement preventative maintenance measures
- Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies
- Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety protocol
- Take measures to perform maintenance on equipment and tools
- Move furniture and equipment upon instruction
- Maintain the overall condition of the building and grounds
- Perform inspection of the premises and ensure that any hazardous conditions are immediately taken care of
- May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts and order parts as needed.
Education and Experience :
- Matric and at least 3 years of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Good skill in the use of hand and power tools
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information I one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform he essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or fee, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move more than 50kgs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision and depth perception
